How to Update the Ancel AD410

    Engine Reader Codes

One of the most common kinds of car issues that triggers the Check Engine Light is brake-related problems. Diagnosing these issues is relatively straightforward, making it a great fit for DIY enthusiasts. For identifying and resolving these issues. For identifying and resolving these issues, the ANCEL AD410 OBD scanner is a reliable tool.

There are many great devices that ANCEL offers, but if you are looking for the best ANCEL OBD scanner for addressing brake-related Check Engine Light issues, the ANCEL AD410 is going to be your best shot. To help explain why, here’s all you need to know about the ANCEL AD410 and how it assists with brake-related diagnostics.

Scanning Brake-Related Error Codes and Clearing Check Engine Light

One of the most common sources of the Check Engine Light turning on is something related to the brakes.   Because brakes get so much use with every single ride, they are more likely to be worn out and require attention than any other car part.

Even if you already know of the issue and are planning on repairing it quickly, the check engine light can still be a nuisance that you will want turned off as quickly as possible.   This is where an ANCEL OBD scanner like the AD410 shines: it can scan for error codes of any kind—including those tied to brake systems—to help you pinpoint the problem.   Once the underlying issue is fixed, it can also clear these codes to turn off the Check Engine Light.

Keep in mind that as related issues, the check engine light or brake-related warnings can also be triggered by a failing brake switch, low brake fluid levels, or a faulty brake booster.

Using the ANCEL AD410 for Diagnostic and Code Clearing

Once you have your ANCEL AD410, simply plug it into your vehicle’s DLC port (typically located under the dashboard near the steering wheel).   Once connected, the AD410 will focus on scanning for issues within the engine system, which is its core diagnostic scope.

As an OBD-II engine code reader, the AD410 specializes in analyzing engine-related systems—including components tied to emissions, fuel delivery, and basic engine performance.   While it does not support diagnostics for the body, chassis, or non-engine systems (such as ABS or SRS), it can detect engine-related fault codes that may relate to brake system issues (e.g., codes triggered by brake-related sensors tied to emissions).   After scanning, the AD410 will display these error codes, helping you identify the root cause of problems like brake-related warnings or a lit Check Engine Light.

Once the underlying issue is repaired, the AD410’s key function shines: clearing the stored error codes.   This action will turn off the Check Engine Light, as long as the problem has been fully resolved.   This is particularly useful after repairs, as it ensures the light doesn’t remain on unnecessarily—even mechanics might overlook this step, making the AD410 a handy tool to finalize the diagnostic process.

Notably, the AD410 does not offer system reset features (such as oil service reminders or sensor resets).   Its primary role is to diagnose engine issues by reading codes and clear those codes once repairs are complete, keeping your vehicle’s diagnostic system accurate and up to date.

ANCEL AD410 Overview – Why it’s a Perfect Diagnostic Scanner Tool

The new and improved ANCEL AD410 is one of the newest models of ANCEL OBD scanners just released in 2023 and received its latest product upgrade in October 2024. It is a refinement on many of the previous car scanner tools that ANCEL has released over the years, making it one of the most sophisticated car diagnostic tools in its price range.

While many ANCEL devices are prioritized as car engine code readers, the ANCEL AD410 focuses on core diagnostic functions: reading and clearing engine fault codes, making it a reliable tool for identifying brake-related issues through error codes.

    Car-Scanner-Tools

With that said, there are many practical things this ANCEL OBD scanner can do, making it a reliable tool for long-term use. The ANCEL AD410 specializes in engine and emissions system diagnostics, including reading and erasing fault codes, providing freeze frame data (to capture vehicle conditions when a fault occurs), running O2 sensor tests (to optimize fuel efficiency), and performing EVAP system leak tests (to detect issues with fuel vapor systems).

As for specific diagnostic features, the ANCEL AD410 focuses entirely on engine-related checks, ensuring accurate analysis of the engine and its connected emissions systems. It does not support non-engine systems such as transmission, airbag (SRS), or other chassis-related diagnostics.

Because of its targeted diagnostic functions, you can perform basic engine and emissions checkups in your own garage. This saves time and money over time by letting you identify issues early—no more unnecessary trips to the mechanic for false alarms. If the scanner detects no engine faults, you can have peace of mind quickly.

While just about anyone can learn to use the ANCEL AD410, its value grows for DIY enthusiasts. If you handle basic repairs (like fixing a faulty brake sensor tied to the engine system), the AD410 can read post-repair codes to confirm the issue is resolved, then clear remaining error codes to turn off the Check Engine Light. This makes it a fantastic tool for users with or without mechanical experience.

    FAQS

Why is resetting brakes or brake pads important?

Resetting brakes or brake pads is important to address braking system issues and turn off the check engine light signal associated with brake problems.

How can the ANCEL AD410 OBD scanner be used for system resets?

The ANCEL AD410 OBD scanner is connected to the car's DLC port, performs a diagnostic analysis, provides error codes related to brakes, then clear the codes only after the underlying issue is repaired—this turns off the Check Engine Light.  It cannot reset brakes or other systems.

What features make the ANCEL AD410 suitable for brake-related diagnostics and system scans?

The ANCEL AD410 supports brake-related diagnostics through these key features:
    - Reading brake-linked error codes: It detects engine or emissions-related codes triggered by brake system issues (e.g., sensor malfunctions tied to braking).
    - Clearing codes post-repair: After fixing the root cause (e.g., a faulty brake sensor), it clears stored codes to turn off the Check Engine Light.
    - Comprehensive engine scans: It includes O2 sensor tests and EVAP system checks, which can indirectly reveal issues affecting brake-related performance (e.g., fuel system irregularities impacting engine-brake coordination).

I plug my AD410 into the USB on my win10 PC and it shows 2 vertical blue lines, like the pause symbol on an audio device. the AD410 shows in my devices on my computer, but the update software that I downloaded from here does not find or connect to my AD410. Please assist me in making this happen. I received this AD410 as a gift but didn’t have a need for it till now. It does read the basic generic OBD2 DTC and Emissions Monitor Status. But it did not read and load the vin# as it says it should in the instructions, and will not read the manufacturer DTC P- codes etc, saying that there isn’t the library for those codes, for my 2003 Toyota Prius. Please help me get on the road with this. I am a now retired 50+ year pro-mechanic, so I am familiar with using code reader/scanners, but I am not an IT tech kind of guy and this has me stumped. Your service and assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Read the comments and was ready to send this device back but I looked in the user manual where there was a QR Code. The code linked to here for firmware update. Haven’t tried the update yet, as I wanted to use the device first to see if it needed an update. https://anceltech.com/product/detail?id=ad410pro84218324582

I bought “Ancel AD410 Pro” a few days ago, thinking that this is a great tool to check our cars, but is a cheap Chinese product, good for nothing.

When I connect it to the computer, it displays “Please perform related operations on your computer”. What operations has to perform? I pressed all the 5 buttons and no actions. Don’t I have to update the software before I connect it to my car?

Usually for all the tools, setting up the tool will be the first thing to do before they start describing how to use the tool on your vehicle. Here they put it like a tree planted upside down and no help online, other than trying to sell more of the useless products.

If I don’t get a reply within a couple of days, I am going to return this to the seller. It’s supposed to be a tool with a lifetime upgrade, but nothing about that is available when I searched the site.

Please send me a reply soon and thank you.

    Truly,

    James
